Fallen Hero California Highway Patrol Officers 1981-2007
Since the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation was created, 58 California Highway Patrol Officers have lost their lives while on duty. During one of the Department's most devastating 12-month periods in its 80-plus-year history, the CHP lost seven (7) Officers in the Line of Duty, between September, 2005 and August, 2006.
On October 29, 2009 and May 7, 2010 the two latest tragedies occurred, when Officer Jarrod Martinez, and Officer Daniel Benavides lost their lives while on patrol, protecting all of us.
Never forgotten and forever honored, these most-recent Fallen Heroes are:
Officer David Romero - September 23, 2005
Officer Andrew Stevens - November 17, 2005
Officer Erick Manny - December 21, 2005
Lieutenant Michael Walker - December 31, 2005
Officer Earl Scott - February 17, 2006
Officer John Bailey - February 25, 2006

Family and Friends Gather to Honor Fallen Hero CHP Officer Artie J. Hubbard
Last fall, a pair of distinctive, official green signs was erected on the Interstate 5 freeway, just north of Sacramento, to honor the sacrifice Fallen Hero CHP Officer Artie J. Hubbard paid while on duty, protecting the citizens of California. This tangible and enduring tribute to Officer Hubbard stands as a symbol of a positive special partnership forged among the CHP 11-99 Foundation, the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP), the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

Philanthropist Bruce Meyer Takes Possession of the 2007 Infiniti G Sports Sedan
The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation received a generous donation to support its Benefits and Scholarship Programs: a 2007 Infiniti G sports sedan, valued at $39,200. To raise funds for the CHP 11-99 Foundation's programs, during its 25th, Silver Anniversay Year in 2007, the Infiniti G was the featured prize of a wonderfully successful car drawing!
CHP 11-99 Foundation Board Past President and Major Donor Bruce Meyer was on hand to draw the winning ticket during a special ceremony held at the CHP 11-99 Foundation's new Fullerton office on March 1, 2007. Mr. Meyer was delighted to call 11-99 Foundation supporters Richard Corgel and Joan Otomo-Corgel of Manhattan Beach and let them know that they were the winners of our drawing this year!
