Second-year 11-99 Foundation Scholarship recipient and Harvard University student Amanda Fields has been selected as the 2006-07 Frank J. Clark Scholar-Athlete (FCSA).  Amanda, who is a Sophomore Psychology and Religion double-major at Harvard, is the daughter of Border Division CHP Officer Donald Fields, a veteran Officer in the CHP's Oceanside Area office.

As the members of the 11-99 Foundation's Scholarship Committee re-reviewed the application materials submitted by all 809 of this year's Scholarship recipients to determine this year's Scholar-Athlete awardee, Amanda's history of superior academic achievement, stellar athletic accomplishments and passion for excellence inspired each member to select her to wear the prestigious FCSA mantle.  The FCSA program was created in 2004, to honor Foundation Past President and current Board of Directors member Frank Clark, who has maintained a lifelong devotion to Sports and commitment to the importance of excellence in both the academic and athletic arenas.  In addition to the generous initial 2006-07 Scholarship award Amanda earned through merit and hard work, inside and outside the classroom, she received a separate FCSA award to help support her studies at Harvard.

Among her numerous athletic pursuits, at Harvard, Amanda serves as a leader on the university's NCAA Division I Women's Crew Team.  Serving in the stroke seat, Amanda's fellow rowers count on her to maintain team rhythm and balance.  A hallmark of Amanda's amazing young life thus far has been her ability to maintain balance among her love of family, commitment to public service, working to help pay for her studies at Harvard, athletics and academics.

"In pursuing my dream, attending Harvard, I've learned that college provides so much more than just an academic education, I am receiving a precious life education as well!" -Amanda Fields, 2006-07 Frank Clark Scholar-Athlete

While Amanda has expressed her deep gratitude for being named the 2006-07 Frank Clark Scholar-Athlete, the members of the Foundation's Board of Directors are honored to be able to assist and acknowledge such an impressive young woman.
