The California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable organization that provides Benefits and Scholarships to California Highway Patrol family members. Since the CHP 11-99 Foundation was incorporated in 1981, the members of the Foundation's Board of Directors have provided $16.6 million in assistance to current, retired and Fallen in the Line of Duty CHP employees and their families. For over a quarter century now, the important work of the Foundation has been enabled through the generosity of tens of thousands of individual donors and volunteers and by institutional grant funding. 2009-10 Scholarship Award Announcement
The members of the CHP 11-99 Foundation's Scholarship Committee completed their review of the 2009-10 application pool and award letters were mailed to this year's successful applicants on June 11, 2009. Please join us for one of the ceremonies held throughout July. Ceremony calendar to be posted soon!
"If Necessary, Lay Down My Life..."
Since the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation was created, 56 California Highway Patrol Officers have lost their lives while on duty. During one of the Department's most devastating 12-month periods in its 75-plus-year history, the CHP lost seven (7) Officers in the Line of Duty, between September, 2005 and August, 2006.
On December 15, 2008, the latest tragedy occurred, when Officer Joseph Sanders lost his life while on patrol, protecting all of us. Fallen Hero CHP Officer Sanders is survived by his pregnant widow and four young children.

Tribute is a Symbol of a Special Partnership
A special collaboration ensured that a pair of distinctive, official, green signs was erected on the Interstate 5 freeway, just north of Sacramento, to honor the sacrifice Fallen Hero CHP Officer Artie J. Hubbard paid while on duty, protecting the citizens of California. This tangible and enduring tribute to Officer Hubbard stands as a symbol of a positive special partnership forged among the CHP 11-99 Foundation, the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP), the California Highway Patrol and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
Bob Weinberg Legacy Society
To better serve the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation's many friends and donors, the members of the CHP 11-99 Foundation's Board of Directors created the Bob Weinberg Legacy Society (BWLS), as part of the CHP 11-99 Foundation's 25th Anniversary Celebration. Generous Legacy Gift Endows Broderick Crawford Benefits Program
Some of us are dedicated enough to assist others through hands-on work and direct deed, while some of us assist through the provision of major charitable gifts. A very select, special few among us have the capacity, fortitude, and commitment to do both. To honor Kelly Crawford's father, 1950s television series icon and Academy Award winner Broderick Crawford, in perpetuity, and to support the 11-99 Foundation's death and emergency benefits program, Kelly and his wife Jean have become Charter Members of the 11-99 Foundation's Bob Weinberg Legacy Society. Broderick Crawford Benefits Program
Through the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation's Broderick Crawford Benefits Program, the members of the Foundation's Board of Directors provide emergency and death-related Benefits to the members of CHP families in times of need. Since 1981, the members of the CHP 11-99 Foundation's Board of Directors have provided nearly $3.9 million in Benefits to support worthy CHP families.
Scholarship Program
Since they began awarding college Scholarships over two decades ago, the members of the California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation's Board of Directors have awarded thousands of post-secondary level educational scholarships, which have helped thousands of worthy students attain college degrees.
Annual Scholarship Award Ceremonies
Once again this year, the CHP 11-99 Foundation hosted a series of Scholarship Award Ceremonies up and down the state, to honor the young men and women who were selected to receive post-secondary educational Scholarships for the 2008-09 academic year.
Did you Know
Every year, the lives of hundreds of thousands of Californians are touched and enhanced by California Highway Patrol 11-99 Foundation programs. For the upcoming 2008-09 calendar year alone, the members of the CHP 11-99 Foundation's Board of Directors have awarded over $2 million in Scholarships and will have provided another half million dollars in Benefits to directly assist well over 1,000 CHP families. Since the 11-99 Foundation first began providing Benefits support in 1981 and Scholarship support in 1984, $16.6 million has been provided to assist worthy CHP family members.
